10-26-2009

Shoop da woop for Charlie!!! I am so proud of that boy. His team is number 6th in the entire state! That is crazyness. I think that he is just going to play football? Idk but I am glad he is doing so well. Well anyways, Things here are going great.
wednesday was pretty awesome we got up early because we wanted to visit some other inactives in our ward. But they weren't home. But it was like heavenly father was guiding us because right there on the street we saw them and talked to them. They didn't even have the day off or at least they didn't plan it to be off. Just something was wrong at their job and got the day off.

Well we went out and visited some of our members and gave them some thank you cards for all of their help. Also, I made more of the brownies which like I said before are a complete and udder fake that tastes delicious.  Well afterwards, we went over to another lady Noemi Leon who was so happy to see us and fed us. It was crazyness actually. She has an addiction to black tea. And so we made an agreement. I have to give up english until december 31st and she can't drink tea anymore. It is kind of hard because if I say one word in english I have to do 50 push up. I have already done 500 just in this week for talking. "sigh" but hey she hasn't drunken tea in a week. I am so happy for her.

WEll on thursday me and elder sopena planned for the week in the morning and went finding. We probably knocked 200 doors that day. WEll around here it is more like we rang 200 bells and then climbed 100 sets of stairs. LOL

Then saturday we got this call from Hna. Earnest in the morning and apparently she told us some day this week that we had to bring stuff that represented america which honestly I had no clue but it's chill. So anyways we left and bam! got stuff from the house... because honestly what really is american lol. And bam made my completely fake brownies lol and bam!!!!!!!! attended the event. It was great. Every single pais was there, they had dances and cultural biographies, but my favorite was the food :).........

So next we went and vistited one of  our other members Isabel a recent convert and she was very happy to see us mainly because we are so great but those are her words.

Elder Gamez 10/19/2009 great week

Tuesday we had the best time finding people out here mom. There must have been like 20 people we set appointments with and we even set one for the english elders lol. We went over to this one member families house the Castillos and their daughter wanted us to help her because she is planning on going on a mission soon. She is peruvian by the way. Well we taught her and she was so excited. I think that she is nervous because she is kind of a recent convert but in all reallity she doesn't need to know everything. She just needs to learn PMG.

We then procceed to the familia Vera's house(old dominicans) who cooked us lunch and we visited their less active family. The vera's actually just returned from the D.R. We then went and visited Genaro, Yawdy's dad because he was still recovering from his surgery. I brought him some of the brownies I cooked.... Actually, I think I have given everyone a brownie now. I don't know why but hispanic people like peanut butter.

Well we visited a less active who came to church this week with her son. And she fed us Her name is Hna. Peña and she is the bomb!  Then we found this family(the familia luna) and at first they didn't even want to look at us but after we started speaking they seemed very interested in our message. We didn't know why then but we found out later. So we scheduled a return appointment later in the afternoon and bam! found out that apparently years ago the sister missionaries taught them lol it was great!

Well we also, visited this really weird investigator who know's more about religion than anyone should probably lol but he was so open to the gospel.

a thought about life...

Life is way way way too short to wake up with regrets.
Soooooo love the people who treat you right.
Love the ones who don't,  why? just because you can.
BELIEVE everything happens for a reason.
If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands..and hold onto it.......
If it changes your life, let it....
Kiss slowly..
HUG HUG HUG... a hug can heal a heart...
Accept your trials with hope...
they are the basis of your blossoming talents..
Love immensely...
Forgive quickly...
Do good,  whenever wherever the thought occurs to you.. why bother?  the thought was given to you for a reason...follow it....
You've probably heard that God never said life would be easy, only promised it would be worth it!
Have hope in that statement... it helps you like forward... NEVER NEVER NEVER backwards...
Today is a celebration of my people's day, men and women alike...
You might not know that I am only as strong as the chocolate I eat ...
or choose not to eat..
the hair spray I use.. or the hair that I'm starting to lose...
and the many sincere loving friends I have.
To all people that have
touched my life.. Here's to you!!!!

Monday Oct 5th..

Ok mom so lets talk about Max's airport thing. I got the pictures and I am just so happy to know that he is in the MTC right now. He is going to have so much fun! Now we just gotta get Nathan prepped and Bam!!!! missionary extravaganza??? Yes that is how you spell it anyways.

Ok mom so this week we started off monday by going by the Familia campos house on monday. This was after P-day of course and there we gave Hno. Campos a blessing of comfort. We left and went to Gabriel and Yawdy's. Monday was his birthday so I cooked him a brownie cake with M&M's and he loved it so that is what I can say about that day :) just thought I would make you proud mom :).

Next on tuesday we had disctrict meeting as usual in the morning and went to find some less actives and we found to people 2 people actually that we had now clue were members??? There was this one Puerto Rican and another El Salvadorian lady who hadn't been to church for years. Let's just put it this way. The Puerto Rican Lady is 29 years old and has 2 kids. And she started telling us how the last time she went she went out with her friends to plan for behives. Long!

Thursday, we visited this family who consist of a 21 year old girl named Alma, who has a daughter, and a husband to her named Raul, I think he is 20 and is a member. So both of them we are teaching and it's tough to get time with them because they are so poor right now and phew........... They really need the gospel let's just say that.

Next, we went over to Gabriel and Yawdys and taught them about temples. It was crazy the questions they had about the people they wanted to baptize for the dead after their baptism. I know that when we taught them they really wanted to be baptized in that minute because alot of Gabriels Grandfathers died without the gospel. Strangely enough, that same day I found out that gabriel is from Cuernavaca!!!! and that they eat Grasshoppers in Mexico :) I know because I ate some. That's right more insects for me. I really can't wait to hear about max's experiences :)

Oh and we also found another less active named Joseph who is from jaruselem and it was so amazing to hear his testimony. He probably hasn't been to church in 20 years but said "I still have the same feelings for the church and I know that our church is the true church" This guys wife is a full on Jew!!!! She won't even shake my hand!!! But he has a solid testimony still. Also, I live by a school for Jews actually I never mentioned that before but all of them go to the school and all of them are asitic **Hassidic  Jews which means they all wear specific clothing and can't touch people who are unclean.... ect. Well of course Saturday was awesome and you wanna know why mom???? I got up a little early and made biscuits and gravy for my companions!!!!! Yep, kept the traditions strong. Now i could only get english muffins at wal-mart? Here in Jersey they don't sell biscuits at wal-mart. Ridiculous I know but non the less my companions enjoyed the meal :)...

Well we went to conference and I watched it in english because we set up a TV to watch separate from the chapel.  Well sunday was just as good I must say that the talk by Elder Holland was AMAZING and I was spiritually blown away.  Anyways, this place is great :)

Mom I love you I want you to know that I have two great companions who help me every day. Elder sopena wants you to know "you is da best in ever" ;) and Elder Ellsworth as well.
With love,
Elder gamez
PS. Jersey is da Bomb!
